my dad had surgery today so he is kind of high off his pain meds and he keeps telling me “get me a ham sandwich” and i’m like “no dad we don’t eat ham.. we’re jews’ he goes “ham… ham sandwich please” “dad no no, no ham..”

now he’s just reading from the dessert menu and my mom is telling him “your doctor said no sugar or anything too heavy…” and he’s going “this is so unfair! this is so unfair to me!”

Literally every one of those women’s costumes have a “Yandy” watermark.  I’m going to flip my shit. How many times do I have to say it.

YANDY IS A LINGERIE SITE. THEY SELL LINGERIE,  FOR WOMEN TO BE SEXY IN. FOR SEX. IT’S. WHAT. THEY. SELL.

THEY ARE NOT AN AVERAGE STORE. THESE ARE NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHOICES. STOP BEING MISLEADING.

And how hard is it to land even a minimum-wage job? This year, the Ivy League college admissions acceptance rate was 8.9%. Last year, when Walmart opened its first store in Washington, D.C., there were more than 23,000 applications for 600 jobs, which resulted in an acceptance rate of 2.6%, making the big box store about twice as selective as Harvard and five times as choosy as Cornell. Telling unemployed people to get off their couches (or out of the cars they live in or the shelters where they sleep) and get a job makes as much sense as telling them to go study at Harvard.

Don’t get me started.

(via meechwoods)

I think people don’t understand what the unemployment rate means.  It means the number of jobs there ARE compared to the number of people there are looking for jobs.

People seem to somehow think that the unemployment rate is the number of people sitting around unemployed, as if there are thousands of companies with open positions and since the unemployed people all keep sitting on their butts, those companies are just somehow getting by without filling those positions????

The unemployment rate is the number of people who will be left over after all of the available jobs are filled.

It’s the number of people who are going to be wasting all of their waking hours each week looking for jobs that don’t exist.

My class today

  • Me: So when you see the 4 year old boy pull the little girl's hair...
  • Students: He likes her!
  • Me: Now they are around 11 or 12 and he grabs her arm and wrestles her to the ground even though she calls him a jerk and yells at him to leave her alone.
  • Students: That is just how boys are.
  • Me: Now they are 18 and he grabs her arm and--
  • Students: Oh, that's not okay.
  • Me: Really? How would he know? How would she know? How would you know? You just told me that for the first 17 years of these children's lives that you thought it was cute, sweet, and natural for a boy to grab a girl and be rough with her.
  • Students: Oh.
  • Me: Oh, is right.

LET ME POINT OUT OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS SCENE:
Here, Captain America - a hero in this film - is standing still while three other kinds of heroes, rush around to do thier job. (this is in no way bashing Cap, he is simply standing still at this moment, most likely in shock/fatigue). A soldier, a BLACK COP and two firemen. While American’s super soldier is immobilized, our every day heroes are still fighting to ensure safety and peace. The fact that Marvel created this moment in thier film, a film focused on the heroes, speaks yet again to thier message that you don’t have to be a super, to be super.
